internshipness

So i've been interning for the past 2 months ish at the daily record in morris county. & it's been forreals helpful. i've been treated nicely and equally (as in no coffee-ing and actually given assignments instead of just watching or doing computer editing or something) & i've met a lot of ppl in the community/have a new respect for community newspapers (no offense from before). Anywho, i basically just really enjoy this internship and thought i'd share some photos I have taken for assignments.

This was my first published photo:

went to a homeless solutions apt. complex and used my own camera/flash. it didn't come out too well on the kids, but after some editing, it's not too bad.

this was the same assignment and I just liked the angle and light/shadows

this was the whippany park high prom i had to shoot. i wanted to avoid high schoolers but i got caught w/ a prom assignment. haha it's okay though, cause the place ended up being where my sister's reception's going to be so i got to see the place/see how an event is run there. it's beautiful. & i liked this girl's dress.

this is the first front page photo that got published i think. granted it's a fake plastic baby, it doesn't look too unrealistic when it's just the feet. haha

@ fosterfields family farm, little kiddies with little chicks. cute overload. except i was sweating and it smelled like farm animals, which i'm not very keen towards. this assignment was kinda difficult b/c i had to get the kids' names and their parents' permission and finding the parent that went w/ the kid was difficult at times. especially that one girl at the top. not to mention i wore completely the wrong shoe attire for this assignment. you live and learn ('& then get luv's' would be so pun-y here. haha) .

i wished the boy's hat wasn't covering his face in this photo for the newspaper, but as a photo just for funsies, i like the hat covering.

this little dude was drumming during a rehearsal at School of Rock in Long Valley. this assignment was pretty fun for me b/c it is the closest i've been to live music photography. anywho, this drummer, Jack, was sucha heartbreaker/will be one. haha i can't remember off the top of my head how old he is but he is YOUNG. and really good. trust me. i know my drummers. hahaha just kidding, but he's got real talent. that much i can see.

same assignment. i got this idea after i went outside the room cause my left ear was buzzing. i really like the idea of this photo. the execution wasn't too bad either, as I humbly add. i hope they publish this one but we'll see how much room they have cause i'm sure they'll want faces more than artsy if they can only choose one or two.

this guy was kind of a uppity douche but only a little. anywho, the restaurant's Farm2Bistro and he basically buys as much local produce he can and just cooks them for his restaurant. it's a pretty cool idea. i liked this photo cause it reminded me more as a magazine portrait thing.

this assignment was dreaded but totally had fun when i was there. the only reason why i dreaded it was b/c i had to spend the day outside for like 9 hours originally (stayed for 6). a.) i didn't want to be outside for 9 hours in the hot sun lugging around camera equipment in jeans and boots. b.) i didn't want to get a tan line before the wedding c.) (this came later) i was having pretty shitty allergy attacks. BUT/nonetheless (yes that was redundant, whutever.) i had a really good time and the female farmer (it's a story on female farmers) and her partner were really nice and down to earth (pun intended :DDD hee) despite using a buttload of tissues and sweating balls, avoiding stray cats, and trying not to be sniffed in the crotch by a massive but friendly dog, i had a lot of fun.

now to the first photo, (wow i rambled way more than i intended to) i liked the angle and full frame-ness of it, except it didn't come out that well, exposure-wise. i edited it to the best of my abilities, but her face looks real drained looking. le sigh.

took this as a weather shot at Sunrise Lake in Morristown. just a fun splashy moment.. as i stood on really fudgen hot sand w/ my bare feet. i have to say, good thing i'm a young, asian girl or else some of these parents would have flipped a shizz of someone taking photos of their kids. haha

this was at the morris county policy training ..place haha. it was junior police academy camp week and they had a helicopter come. i just liked this photo despite seeing only part of the helicopter, cause you see the students w/ their last names on the back of their shirts, the helicopter pilot, and the helicopter in one photo w/ no dead space. at least none that i can tell (which i bet means there is. haha)

that's it for now. i should update my portfolio soon w/ some of these. oh the laziness of summer vacation..
